"The whole flight was done so professionally. I'd recommend this experience to everyone."

Is it safe?

An extensive history of commercial operations around the world show that seaplanes have an exemplary safety record. Statistics show that seaplanes are actually safer than other water-based craft. Our commercially licensed pilots, already possessing a high level of expertise, are further trained to identify safe landing areas, water handling skills, marine navigation, regulations and procedures. The nautical training is of paramount importance as the seaplane, once landed, behaves like any other watercraft.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is the authoritative body and has strict guidelines and rules on management, safety, operational standards and the level of pilot experience required to operate a seaplane which Bay City Seaplanes more than satisfies.

Bay City Seaplanes also recognizes and abides with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972, and operates under the guidelines of Marine Safety Victoria, The Victorian Regional Channels Authority, The Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria.

If I’m disabled, can I still take a flight?

Being disabled should not affect your enjoyment on a flight with us. Bay City Seaplanes must however operate within guidelines issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Department of Health.
Please stipulate your needs with any booking enquiry or contact our office to discuss your particular needs and requirements.

Refunds and Cancellations

The following is an outline of the policy held by Bay City Seaplanes in the event of flight cancellation or delay, which may occur for safety or operational reasons.

We will make all reasonable effort to give you at least 24 hours' notice of any flight cancellation or delay. The reason may however be unforeseen, such as unexpected weather or aircraft in-serviceability’s, either of which could happen at any time up to the scheduled time of departure. For this reason we recommend that you telephone us prior to setting out, just to check the weather and the status of any pre-booked flight.

Weather conditions can be intermittent of temporary and depending on the circumstances we may need to either cancel or only delay the flight. If this happens, your choices are:

Cancellation - Secure a new date for the flight, or accept a refund.
Delayed for less than 1 hour - accept the flight, or forfeit the booking or voucher.
Delayed for more than 1 hour - secure a new date, or accept a refund.

We also reserve the right to amend the advertised details of the flight and, provided the amended trip is of the same duration with a reasonably comparable itinerary, you may accept the flight as amended or forfeit the booking or voucher. You may cancel your flight by giving no less than 48 hours notice and be entitled to a refund less a $10 administration fee. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, you will likely forfeit the voucher.
